Western Sydney is home to the largest Indigenous community in Australia.

Business Western Sydney acknowledges the Burramattagal people, theTraditional Owners of the land where we primarily conduct our business. For over 60,000 years, the area comprising present day Parramatta was occupied by the  Burramattagal people who first settled along the upper reaches of the Parramatta River.

We also acknowlege the many other clans of the greater Darug Nation, whose tradional lands occupy over 1,800 square kilometres in what we now know as Western Sydney. These people and places include:

  • Bediagal (Georges River)
  • Bidjigal (Castle Hill)
  • Boolbainora (Wentworthville)
  • Burraberongal (Richmond)
  • Burramattagal (Parramatta)
  • Cabrogal (Liverpool, Cabramatta)
  • Cannemegal-Warmuli (Prospect)
  • Cattai (Windsor)
  • Gomerrigal-Tongara (South Creek)
  • Kurrajong (Kurrajong)
  • Mulgoa (Penrith, Mulgoa)
  • Tugagal (Toongabbie)
  • Wandeandegal-Warrawarry (Eastern Creek, Blacktown)

It is also acknowledged that the lands now known as Western Sydney were also accessed by the people of the Tharawal, Gandangara and Eora Nations.

Business Western Sydney acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who currently reside within Western Sydney and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
